Dollar General Corp. (NYSE:DG) To Build 13th Facility In Texas

Dollar General Corp. (NYSE:DG) intends to build new distribution center based in Texas. It already has twelve facilities in its distribution network. The new state-of-the-art facility will be the thirteen additions in its growing distribution network. The other distribution centers are based in Virginia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Oklahoma, Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama, California and Florida.

The new facility

Dollar General Corp. (NYSE:DG) has commenced the construction process. The first step is preparation of land that will have a 900,000+ square-foot facility at South Foster Industrial Park. The new facility can provide employment to more than 530 people. They will be employed at 1,000 stores in Texas and nearby regions. The employment figures stands valid when the facility is working at its full capacity. Dollar intends to start hiring process in next summers. The operations can commence in October 2015.

Expansion facility

Dollar General is making substantial investment in the expansion process. It is focusing on its presence in Texas region. There are as many as 1,200 stores employing more than 9,400 employees in Texas. Lone Star state has higher number of stores compared to other states. Dollar General Corp. (NYSE:DG) finds Texas as an attractive market to do business. It plans to invest more in the region in the future. The company is excited to create additional 530 jobs to Bexar County.

The presence in Bexar County

Dollar General Corp. (NYSE:DG) operates 61 stores in Bexar County. The stores provide employment to more than 460 employees. Once the new Bexar facility is completed, there will be almost 1,000 Dollar employees in Bexar County. The new distribution center is going to have a significant impact on Texas economy. As per the Institute for Economic Development, the economic impact will exceed beyond $750 million in coming ten years. The facility once fully operational, will result in more jobs and enhanced prosperity in Bexar County and nearby regions. Apart from the main facility, the third-party transportation of Dollar General will employ ninety drivers.
