Northern, WI 03/20/2013 (usmarketsdaily) - IHS iSuppli, the market researcher has gathered data that indicates that the manufacturing cost of the Galaxy S4, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd (KRX:005930) down by 0.20% to close at $1473,000.00, faster and bigger smartphone that was launched just last week, was $244. Its display is larger and more advanced. It also has a higher computer memory and a faster chip which are the reasons for its manufacturing costs being 15 percent higher than that of the Galaxy S3, its predecessor. The handset sports a 5 inch screen as well as a 13 megapixel camera and is one of the three high-value smartphones that are being launched by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd (KRX:005930) this year.
S4 not very different from S3
Senior cost benchmarking analyst at HIS iSuppli, Vincent Leung wrote in a statement that the hardware of the S4 is not vastly different from the S3 that had been introduced into the market in April 2012 but the S4 comes with a few critical component updates that are responsible for its enhanced functionality. The estimates that have been outlined are based on a virtual analysis and only a physical examination of the Galaxy S4 and its components will decide whether there will an amendment to that cost. The new model will hit American shelves on April 26.
Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) down by 0.27% to close at $454.49 gained precedence over Samsung in the fourth quarter with the launch of the iPhone 5. In September, iSuppli said that the manufacturing and materials cost of the latest iPhone 5 soon after it made its debut were $207.
