Nils Katla Steps Down From VEON Ltd (NASDAQ:VEON)’s Supervisory Board

VEON Ltd (NASDAQ:VEON) a major international provider of internet and connectivity services based in Amsterdam and serving over 235 million clients, reported that Telenor-affiliated director Mr. Nils Katla has stepped down from its Supervisory Board. Telenor owns 14.6% stake in VEON’s share capital, which it projects to use in payment of exchangeable bonds that matures in 2019.

In unrelated news, the company reported the engagement of Vasyl Latsanych as CEO of its Russian businesses, PJSC VimpelCom, effective January 10, 2018. In his new profile, Vasyl will report to Mr. Kjell Morten Johnsen, the Head of Major Markets at VEON. PJSC VimpelCom runs under the “Beeline” brand in Russia.

Vasyl spent more than 16 years in telecoms, a big part of which remained with the MTS Group in several senior roles. His recent profile was as Group VP for Strategy and Marketing. At this role, he was responsible for strategic and commercial initiatives at MTS and led a notable customer experience transformation, and digital development.

Stating on the appointment, Johnsen reported that Vasyl brings a proven track record and extensive experience in the telecoms industry. His engagement will further develop and strengthen VEON’s leading market position, especially as they look to implement vital strategic measures in a highly dynamic and advancing Russian market.

Latsanych reported that he is thrilled by the prospect to lead PJSC VimpelCom, and he is looking forward to associating with the team to confirm that Beeline consumers are offered with the best digital solutions and services, especially as the Russian telecoms market ventures into a new phase of advancement and digital change.
