General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) recently introduced the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, which has high muscle car standards to keep up with the highly competitive muscle car industry.
The new Camaro was revealed with a lot of excitement on Sunday in Detroit. Part of the excitement was because of the vehicle’s power which takes the crown over its counterpart, the Ford Mustang. The stylishly designed automobile looks more beautiful than ever but still manages to keep the Camaro aura that was largely promoted by the Transformers franchise.
The design is lighter and physically smaller compared to the previous model. The company announced that it built the car on its Alpha platform that was used to design and build the Cadillac ATS. The platform gave the company the opportunity to produce a faster, more stable and more agile automobile.
General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) has various power plants for the vehicle. There is an option for a two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This is the more economic option. But for those looking for more power, the company has included a new 3 liter V6 engine. The one that got automobile enthusiasts talking was the powerful 6.2 liter V8 engine which produces 455 horsepower.
The Camaro’s high performance engine has 20 more horsepower over the latest Ford Mustang. GM has been obsessing over the weight of the car and this time they have successfully shed off 200 pounds. The reduced weight plus the powerful engine have brought some profound results to the vehicle’s performance.
The company expects the eco-friendly turbocharged model’s fuel economy to average 30 miles per gallon. Many automobiles have been tying turbochargers to smaller engines to maintain good fuel economy while still have admirable power output.
General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) claims the Camaro will be a worthy adversary for the likes of dodge chargers, and mustangs which are a great attraction especially in the American culture. GM claims that the 2016 Camaro has very few traits from the previous model. The new model is expected to be available for purchase by the end of the year.
