Boston, MA, 07/03/2013 – USEC Inc. (NYSE:USE) energy based firm supplies (LEU) low enriched uranium for the operative purposes to commercial nuclear power plants. On the last Friday USEC Inc announced that it would not be able to conclude the short term extension for uranium enrichment deal at its Paducash Gaseous Diffusing Plant based in Kentucky.
The new Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy Moniz addressed the Loan guarantee yesterday during a press conference where as USEC Inc was not mentioned in the whole speech. In parallel last week President and CEO John K. Welch stated that USEC has made significant progress with its two-year, cost-sharing research, development and demonstration program that was designed to foster the financial and technical readiness of the centrifuge technology. USEC is planning to update its application with the DOE Loan Guarantee Office later this year.
